Road Trip March - Day 4

March 16th 2026 (Monday)

We've woken up to a grey wet day - again the earplugs were a godsend, this time from the noisy rain on the roof last night. Sadly my plan to walk this morning has been cancelled as I prefer fair weather walking.

After all our excitement of the last few days, today sees us complete this leg of the tour, travelling to New York City, where we have a campsite booked for the week whilst Fred attends his conference. The RV park is called the Skyline RV Camp and has scenic views of Manhattan skyline. You pay extra for a waterfront view across the East river to Manhattan Island but it is worth it. It was also chosen for it's close proximity to commute in & out of central Manhattan for Fred's conference and hopefully some sightseeing too.

Driving through NYC in the camper is something I'm pleased Fred was doing it and not me!! Just being a passenger had my heart rate elevated, but eventually we arrived at the RV park.

On arrival, Frank the site manager met us and was incredibly helpful in giving us advice on where to eat & the easiest way to commute around the city. Unfortunately the wet weather had followed us so the views of Manhattan tonight were somewhat distorted by all the rain and low lying cloud.

A misty wet view of Manhatten skyline in New York

Because of the grim weather and the last few days being pretty intense we decided to stay in the van, enjoy watching the boats going up & down the river, whilst reading and relaxing, keeping toasty warm & dry inside. Tomorrow's a new day and we'll be nicely refreshed and ready for it!

Road Trip Day 4 - Total distance travelled today aprox 150 miles - give or take around NYC as we couldn't track it exactly.
