Some trails save their best view for the very end. Cascade Falls in Pembroke, Virginia does just that, but the walk to it is every bit as memorable as the waterfall.

Growing Succulents has always been more than a hobby or a job for me. It has been a part of my identity, a connection to my family, and a source of joy and learning. My growing journey started in the UK, with my Grandfather, Reg Slater, he originally started as a hobby grower, and ended up with a family business, The Plant Lovers in 1969.

Day 30 of our road trip and today we visit the National Museum of Transport in Missouri, home to the Big Boy 4006 and many other unique and interesting trains and carriages alongside automobiles and other modes of transport. Then we nipped across to see the Gateway Arch in St Louis before starting our homeward journey

Road trip day 29 sees us visit Macomb in Illinois, the home town of Elizabeth "Lizzie" Magie, the inventor of the world famous Monopoly game that we all know and love. Then our travels continued to Alton where we went to visit the statue of the worlds tallest man who ever lived, reaching an astonishing 8ft 11.1" tall

Day 28 of our road trip adventures and this morning we visit Dr Evermore's sculpture park that has the 2nd largest scrap metal sculpture in the world, from here we then visited the worlds largest truckstop in Walcott, Iowa 80 also has an amazing truck museum a must see

Another busy day on day 27 of our road trip and today sees us visit the largest natural bridge in Wisconsin, then travel to see Lake Redstone Waterfall before going to eat at Buffalo Phil's Grill and amazing eatery where you are served food by train!

Day 26 of our Road Trip and our first stop of the day was to see the Dignity of Earth and Sky sculpture in Chamberlain, South Dakota, then followed a quick visit to see the iconic Green Giant statue that brought many nostaligic memories of the sweetcorn TV adverts before reaching our RV nightspot, we've travelled over 500 miles today

Day 25 and todays trip sees us visit Badlands National Park a geological marvel. On our way to the park we stop off at Wall Drug Store a most interesting place

Day 24 and we went for a hike near Sylvan lake in Custer, SD. The lake itself is beautiful with some interesting rock formations, but the hike up Little Devil's Tower is incredibly pretty and somewhat challenging with the rocky terrain. Afterwards we came across more bison, a big horn sheep and a texas longhorn cow

Day 23 of our road trip and we visit the South Dakota Air & Space Museum, very interesting place to look around especially as it is free entry!! We then travelled down to Hot Spings to visit the Mammoth Museum, incredibly interesting and they are still digging on the site.

Day 22 of our road trip and today we woke up to snow and a severe weather watch, so a day of resting in the RV keeping toasty and warm

Day 21 of our tour and today we visit a 137 year old trading place in the town of Aladdin, with a population of just 15 residents. The store owner was No.8 of the population!! We then journeyed to the intriquing Devil's Tower in Wyoming, an amazing place to see up close and personal filled with wonder and awe.

Day 20 of our road trip and today we visited Mount Rushmore to discover all about this famous monument, how it came to be and the design issues they had when carving it. From there we traveled up through Spearfish Canyon to Roughlock Falls, a very pretty waterfall. Along our travels we came across some mountain goats whilst driving through the canyon

Custer National Park is a must, especially if you want to see Bison up close and personal, but safely of course!. The park itself has a varied terrain from vast rolling pastures used for livestock to rocky outcrops with plenty of trees, besides the bison there are prairie dogs and a donkey sancturary. It really is an amazing place

Road Trip day 18 and we have decided to take a little detour from our original plan and are now heading to South Dakota to see Mount Rushmore and other delights in the area, such as the somewhat unusual art sculpture of bicycles in Pringle a must see!

Road Trip day 17 - apologies if you are not into trains but that is all this day is, one big, giant train. The Big Boy 4014, the largest steam loco ever built and today we see it live and in action. One of our bucket lists ticked off and THE most amazing day, ever.

Road Trip day 16 a more relaxed day, and we found some stunning rock formations on our travels today alongside

Road Trip day 15 sees us visiting the Cheyanne Rail Museum in Wyoming. Full of interesting memorabilia on Big Boy 4014, then a quick trip to see the static Big Boy in Holliday Park and lunch with a view before travelling to Laramie

Today is simply drive, drive, drive to complete leg 2 of our road trip we have to be in Cheyanne, Wyoming by Friday and we still have over 450 miles to go!!

Today is Fred's day, to pick and choose where we go and what to do, first stop a trip down memory lane, to visit where he was born and lived his early years, then it was off to see Big Boy, the largest steam locomotive in the world!!!

Our road trip this morning took us to see the covered Bridges of Madison County, made famous from the 1995 movie staring Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep. The town Winterset is also birthplace to Hollywood actor, John Wayne, from here our road trip continues to Freds birthplace, Omaha, Nebraska.

The miles continue on Day 10 of our March road trip, with over 500 miles travelled and today we've entered our 4th state of the day

Day 8 leaving New York City to begin our next leg of our adventure travelling across to Cheyanne, Wyoming.

Day 7 of our road trip saw me visit the New York Botanical Gardens, Orchid Exhibition.

Road Trip Day 6 sees Fred at the ultimate HVACR and Construction Expo at the Javits Center, in western mid-town Manhatten. Fred is on one of the Q&A panels sharing his expertise in all things heat pump.

A day out in New York City, read what we get up to from being up high on the Edge to listening to an opera singer in Central Park, it's been a fun filled day, walked over 7 miles and done 30k steps.

Road Trip Day 4 sees us travelling to New York where we will be staying for the rest of the week, we've chosen a lovely RV park to stay in.

Road trip day 3 and it is yet another train filled day, when we visited the Pennsylvania Train Museum where there are lots of locos and carriages on display, then we finished the day at National Toy Train Museum.

Whilst Fred fixed the van I went off for a walk exploring, found a pretty waterfall then we headed for some lunch at the most impressive Casey Jones Restuarant in Pennsylvania

First road trip of 2026... we have a planned, long, complex route of some 4,000 miles round trip for this adventure - but it didn't quite get off as planned, when on finishing loading the RV this morning....
